SLC Prep

by Oregon HOSA

Hello Oregon HOSA!

The 2017 State Leadership Conference is coming up fast on April 4th to April 6th at the Doubletree by Hilton Portland. Everyone is working hard to fundraise and ace their competitive events! To be sure that this year is the best one yet, Oregon HOSA is sharing with you some tips to help you prepare for State Leadership Conference!

1) Bring snacks!

Late night munchies and curfew don’t mix well. It’s very important to abide by curfew and having snacks present can save you a lot of trouble! It also helps save money on food and will keep you satisfied during your break times. Plus, you can always share with your roommates and bond!

2) Have your Event Guidelines!

You will not be able to attend the orientation for your competitive event without your competitive event guidelines. The guidelines are also extremely useful and filled with information. An explanation of the competitive event, supplies list, rubric, study guide, resources and much more can be found there!

3) Bring a Sewing Kit!

It’s a fashion disaster! You’re about to attend opening session and a button pops loose from your shirt! Maybe you need a safety pin or a friend needs to sew something down. It’s always handy to have a small sewing kit around in case something unfortunate happens! Don’t forget to go over the dress code for sessions. You don’t want to be declined at the door for wearing open toed shoes!

If you aren’t sure of what to pack for your stay, here is a suggested packing list:

  • Electronics and their corresponding chargers
  • Toiletries (toothbrush/paste, comb, shampoo, contacts/solution, hair ties, deodorant, Q-tips, etc.…)
  • 1-2 Sets of Business Attire (Navy/Black suit with white shirt, ties for men, closed toed shoes, knee length skirts for women) Be sure to look at the HOSA dress code!
  • 2-3 Sets of Casual Attire
  • 1-2 Sets of Pajamas
  • Competitive Event Supplies
  • A notebook and writing utensils
  • Extra socks/pantyhose
  • Wallet
  • Any needed medication (please adhere to your school’s medication policies!)
  • Snacks

Your state officers can not wait to see you excel at SLC and represent Oregon at the International level at the 2017 International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida, from June 21st to June 24th. Keep your head up, study hard, and finish strong, Oregon HOSA!

2016 Oregon Leadership Institute Registration Materials

by Oregon HOSA

TELL YOUR STORY – Imagination, creativity and characters all come to life in stories. For generations, storytelling has connected us to the past, present, and future. Stories keep hopes and dreams alive, transport us to new worlds and allow us to live in someone else’s shoes. Stories are not just in books, but on television and in social media feeds. What about your story? Who will tell it? Who will hear it? The stage is set…the camera is rolling…the pen is in your hand. It’s time to tell the story that only you can tell….your story.

Join Oregon CTSOs and Oregon HOSA for this year’s Oregon Leadership Institute (OLI). This conference is full of exciting opportunities to learn and grow as a leader.
